Why I want to support teachers with resources, self-care and coaching: Why Learning with Lowrimore was Launched
During my teaching career I taught music education at all grade levels, gave private voice lessons, was a union leader, was a professional soloist and chorister, had small business side hustles and was a single mom. I was always torn between being proud of my and my students’ successes and not feeling like I was good enough. (Imposter Syndrome, anyone?) I was constantly making my own teacher resources, trying to find time for some self-care, and looking for coaching or suggestions from other experienced educators.
Teachers work so hard in all areas of their career: furthering their education, boosting student achievement, providing emotional support to students and families, leading other teachers as coaches, collaborating with staff and administrators, and so much more. Often times, when given the opportunity to take care of themselves, they feel guilty or that they don’t deserve it. Nothing could be further from the truth!
Teachers are heroes! I cannot think of any other profession that is powered by so much heart than those in the field of education. Teachers often sacrifice their personal lives, and their own mental and physical health, for their jobs.
After years of struggling with this myself and supporting other teacher-friends and colleagues suffering the same, I decided I wanted to make it my life’s work to:
* Provide teaching resources to help them in the classroom. Go to my Teachers Pay Teachers store!
* Share tips and tricks for working in moments of self-care into their lives and to bring their own well-being to the top of the priority list. Check out the blog!
* Be a cheerleader and supportive coach to help them focus their goals and take the steps to achieve them.
That is why I chose to leave the classroom and dedicate myself full time to supporting teachers with resources, self-care and coaching. Everyone deserves to live their best life in all areas of their life. I want to help you find the peace and joy you’re missing!
Let me support you with teaching resources and tips.
You can achieve work goals and live the life you want.
Let’s talk about your goals and how I can help you meet and exceed them.
About Christina
Throughout her nearly 20 years in music education, Christina (Hubbard) Lowrimore witnessed and experienced the ways in which teachers give all of themselves to their profession and their students often at the cost of their mental and physical health and well-being. In response, and to find new ways to impact the lives of teachers and students, she created Learning with Lowrimore to support teachers with resources, guided self-care and life coaching so they are more able to live their best personal and professional lives.
Throughout her teaching career she has taught elementary general music and directed bands and choirs at the middle and high school levels. She received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, Master of Music in Conducting, and completed her Graduate Teaching Program at Portland State University, under the tutelage of Christine Meadows and the late Dr. Bruce Browne, as well as completing additional coursework in the ReadOregon Reading Specialist Program.
A professional singer in Portland, Oregon for more than 25 years, Christina has had the distinct honor to have performed as soloist and chorister with many amateur and professional choirs in the Portland area including Viriditas Vocal Ensemble, Portland Vocal Consort, Oregon Repertory Singers, Tillikum Choir Community, and Choro in Schola, to name a few, and has given recitals in Gresham, Oregon and Cannon Beach, Oregon working with esteemed coach, Richard Bower.
Her experiences in and out of the classroom have provided a multitude of learning experiences and connections with experts in the field of music, music education, and educational leadership.
When she is not performing or teaching private voice lessons, Christina enjoys cooking and baking, going for long drives looking for the best sunrise and sunset views, and spending time with her husband and pets, Louie Dog and Chloe the cat.
